💙 Our Philosophy

At Building Blue, we believe that real change begins with understanding.

For decades, most training around domestic violence has focused on one model—power and control—which describes Instrumental Violence: cold, calculated, and goal-driven.
But the reality is more complex. Most domestic violence that officers and advocates see every day is Expressive Violence—reactive, emotional, and trauma-fueled.

When systems treat both the same, outcomes suffer.
We help bridge that gap—connecting neuroscience, cultural insight, and practical experience to create smarter, more compassionate systems that work for victims, offenders, and responders alike.

Trauma-informed systems aren’t soft on crime—they’re smart on people.
